In a survey completed in September 2010, VIDES BMDK was chosen by the Bureau International Catholique L'Enfance (BICE) as one of the best practices presentors in the workshop dedicated to the Right to Education of Children of Living and/or Working on the Street.
Under the VIDES Busina Mo, Dunong Ko (BMDK) Mobile Education Project, around 2,000 children in six areas in the cities of Quezon, Pasay and Manila are being served by the VIDES Volunteers thru tutorial services, advocacy on human and children's rights, scholarships, counselling, opportunities for enhancing one's skills in music, arts, drama and sports, and availing of health and well-being programs. As a community-based program, the BMDK project is conducted in the areas close to where the children live. This is implemented daily thru the use of mobile library vans equipped with educational facilities, supplies, and materials. At present, three mobile libraries individually donated by Jo Tankers, VIDES Korea and VIDES Pinoy, are being utilized by the VIDES Volunteers for the daily mobile education project. Children who are out-of-school are also given the opportunity to study through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program, done in coordination with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Don Bosco School - Manila. On top of these, medical missions are held quarterly for the BMDK Children with the help of volunteer doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.
